David Lynch, Board Member

 

A seasoned veteran in the microelectronics industry, David is currently VP of Technology of CMC Microsystems. Before joining CMC, he was a Co-Founder and CEO of Star IC , a spin-off from Kapik in 2020.

During his tenure at Kapik, David was responsible for providing ongoing oversight of Kapik's business operations, technical direction and supporting growth. He started on the Kapik board in 2014 and subsequently joined as COO in February 2015.

David has more than 35 years of technical and management experience and brings to Kapik a strong track record of successfully growing businesses and establishing and evolving new business lines. At the start of his career, he held a variety of technical and management positions with Bell-Northern Research/Nortel, starting with mixed signal design including switched capacitor implementations and ending with global responsibility for its semiconductor design and tools division. He then joined Gennum as Vice President of Research with responsibility for both product and process design before moving to Senior Vice President and General Manager of Video Products and Chief Technology Officer for the corporation. In 2008, he took the Video Processing Division out of Gennum and into Sigma Designs where he became Vice President and General Manager of the Multimedia Products business.

David has served on a number of Boards and committees, providing advice and guidance to both early stage companies and industry advocacy groups. He has been Chairman of Strategic Microelectonics Council for the Information Technology Association of Canada and has served as a director for both the Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association and the Canadian Semiconductor Design Association. He has also contributed to the boards of Micronet, eMPOWR and CMC.
